Sweet?
These are a couple of the sweetest pictures I have ever caught on camera of either child. Don't let them fool you though... Charlotte is a lot more crazy and wild daily than she appears here and Beckett is preparing to spit his drink out. haha! Yes, my kids are definitely sweet, but to capture it is rare so I will take it when I can get it....

Charlotte's big girl room... part one
Well, it seems like it wasn't very long ago at all that we were turning Charlotte's room into a nursery and now its being transformed into a "big girl room." We were planning on switching both kids to bigger beds around Christmastime. That would make Beckett about the same age as Charlotte was when we moved her to a toddler bed. But after a great discount on a twin mattress set, we figured now was just as good a time as any to go ahead and get it and make the switch for Charlotte. She really does like it, a little adjustment to it of course, just because its something new. But she really seems to enjoy the fact that she can fit a lot more "friends" on her bed with her. Here are some pictures of her new bed with her "friends" on it and of her room rearranged. It's a work in progress, with more accessories and we're thinking probably a new paint job, but we're making the move to big girl status... I guess that's what you are when you are about to have two younger siblings... Beckett's room we won't change over til a couple more months from now at least. He likes to stand on beds, or anything for that matter, so it may be longer than we expect. haha!

Life this week
Well, it FINALLY happened... Beckett got his first tooth! Over 13 months old, better late than never, though, I guess. haha! It was actually pretty uneventful and in the middle of the night too, which is even better. I'm sure a lot more will be popping in soon, so hopefully it won't be too tough on him. And maybe now he'll start to be able to really enjoy more food than bananas and other soft things that he can smash in his mouth.
Charlotte is seeming so grown up these days, and at almost two and a half, she has quite an imagination. She is telling silly stories and making up songs, and of course has the occasional imaginary friend for the day or tells us that people are coming over to play with her, which I'm guessing they are unaware of. On top of it all, she is quite the silly and funny girl. Her days of meltdown dramas are fewer, and she now is just a silly jokester many days. Always the entertainer!
For us, its just parenting and jobs as usual, although Kevin has been doing double duty at home and helping out a lot with the house and kids since I've been feeling extremely crummy this pregnancy. Hoping this stage is over sooner than later. Almost 9 weeks now and at 10 weeks I get to go in finally talk to a nurse. Looking forward to getting these baby appointments going! I still can't believe somedays that we're going to have three "babies" around here! We know it will be challenging at times, but are so happy to have another one on the way and know that the kids will be the best of friends, especially being so close in age.

Funny Charlotte quotes
Charlotte says some pretty hilarious things around here these days. Here are a few recent ones that made us chuckle:
*For her bedtime prayer: "Dear Jesus, thank you for Mommy and Daddy and Mommy and Daddy and A, B, C, D.... (sings the entire ABC's for Jesus) The end."
*While talking on her pretend phone: "I'm practicing my e-mails for my bicuter (computer) festival."
and so many more... will try to post these more often. She is quite a dramatic girl, but also very funny and entertaining.

Fruits of our labor... or vegetables, I guess
We have veggies! We've been picking green beans and zucchini for a couple weeks now and today we picked our first tomatoes. Well, Charlotte picked one a few days ago, but it wasn't ready yet. Its so nice to have them right outside and eat them fresh for dinner or whenever. As you can see, Charlotte is a fan of the zucchini straight out of the garden...

Helping Daddy
Charlotte was so excited to help her Daddy the other day when he asked... she is (usually) a very helpful little girl. And she was even more excited to wear her pretty new bathing suit to wash the car in. Of course, in classic Charlotte style, she had to wear her pretty jelly shoes too. Quite the fabulous little girl!

Kids checkups
We took the kids in this week for their 9 month and 2 year checkups. Both are doing very well. We are so blessed to have such healthy children!
Beckett had a minor ear infection, so minor that if we hadn't mentioned he had been a bit fussy lately, the doctor wouldn't have even prescribed medicine for him. It is his first ear infection and we are pretty sure he's got a few teeth on their way in so that may be affecting his ears too? Here's the funny part of his checkup... He is 20lbs 2.5oz (which by the way is already bigger than Charlotte was at a year old) and the doctor suggested we start adding butter to his foods to help him gain weight! Seriously? He is a chubby little guy! Really, I do understand her concern though. He was in the 75th percentile for his weight and now he's only in the 50th, so mostly its just to make sure he doesn't start losing too much weight, but we're not too concerned about it. He is our little guy that only eats bananas and crackers though (seriously, that's it!) so we were open to suggestions of other foods to try and will continue to add other things to his tray of food to hopefully get him to eat something, anything else. By the way, if you are reading this and can think of any suggestions, please comment and send them my way! I feel like we've tried everything!
Charlotte is still our little growing giant. She continues to be tall and skinny - what a curse! :) She's almost off the charts for her height - above the 97th percentile for the first time even! And finally up to almost the 50th percentile for her weight. Good thing she's smart - people always mistake her for a 3 year old. :)
My babies are growing up! On a sidenote, it's a tad crazy trying to take both kids in for a checkup at the same time. Luckily, Kevin was able to come with us and help out. And Beckett didn't need any shots this time, so that helped control the chaos too. Oh, and Charlotte is now officially done with the crazy first 2 years of doctor visits - she won't have to go back in for a checkup til next year and no more shots til Kindergarten for her! Woo hoo!

Cousin time
Charlotte got to meet her cousin, Jordan, today for the first time. They really do seem to be having fun playing together already. Here is lunchtime today.
Thanks Nana and Auntie Kim for coming out to visit and bringing Jordan too. Time with family is priceless!

Charlotte's dictionary
So I think sometimes it would be fun to come up with a dictionary of the words that come out of my daughter's mouth. I love how kids hear things and remember them. She is an excellent communicator for her age, but some funny ones we've heard lately are:
*head band-aid (headband)
*potato head chips (potato chips)
*barbie cubes (barbecue)
*water mountain (water fountain)
more to come...

Why? Because...
So I wouldn't suggest asking Charlotte "Why?" regarding, well, anything these days.
Here is the response you will get:
"Because... indivisible with liberty justice for all."
No clue where that answer came from, but its the only one we've been getting from her the past couple days. Talk about a crack up!
