Pumpkin Patch

Today we went on a family outing for our first ever trip to the Pumpkin Patch.  The kids had a great time.  There was a petting zoo, a tractor to sit on, lots of other fun things to play with and of course, the actual pumpkin patch.  We would've done more, but it was absolutely freezing cold and windy, so we cut things a bit short, but still had a great time.  Here are a few pictures from our time there...

Life this week

Well, it FINALLY happened... Beckett got his first tooth!  Over 13 months old, better late than never, though, I guess.  haha!  It was actually pretty uneventful and in the middle of the night too, which is even better.  I'm sure a lot more will be popping in soon, so hopefully it won't be too tough on him.  And maybe now he'll start to be able to really enjoy more food than bananas and other soft things that he can smash in his mouth.

Charlotte is seeming so grown up these days, and at almost two and a half, she has quite an imagination.  She is telling silly stories and making up songs, and of course has the occasional imaginary friend for the day or tells us that people are coming over to play with her, which I'm guessing they are unaware of.  On top of it all, she is quite the silly and funny girl.  Her days of meltdown dramas are fewer, and she now is just a silly jokester many days.  Always the entertainer!

For us, its just parenting and jobs as usual, although Kevin has been doing double duty at home and helping out a lot with the house and kids since I've been feeling extremely crummy this pregnancy.  Hoping this stage is over sooner than later.  Almost 9 weeks now and at 10 weeks I get to go in finally talk to a nurse.  Looking forward to getting these baby appointments going!  I still can't believe somedays that we're going to have three "babies" around here!  We know it will be challenging at times, but are so happy to have another one on the way and know that the kids will be the best of friends, especially being so close in age.

Hello...

Anybody still out there?  Well, once again, I am feeling like summer and life is just making the time fly. I cannot believe it has been so long since my last post. So here are a few updates from the Woods' house to catch you up...

*Kevin was gone for two weeks at a work training. And yes, I just about lost my mind! We are finally starting to get back to a routine and Charlotte just this week is ok now when he walks out of the house (or even out of the room) - she wasn't for over a week after he came back!  She sure loves her Daddy!

*Beckett is taking more and more steps all the time. I think he's about up to 10 or so at a time.  He's just in no hurry to be walking everywhere. His first step was at 9 months and now he's 11 months and still mostly crawling. I cannot believe his birthday is less than a month away!

*Charlotte is quite the girly girl these days. She will only wear dresses (even skirts make her very, VERY upset.) She actually pulls off any other clothes that we manage to get on her if it is not a "pretty dress." She also is seen all day wearing bracelets, necklaces, purses, "pretty shoes", and whatever other accessory she can find at the time. I actually noticed today after her nap that she had managed to get out of her bed during naptime, put on some bracelets, and get back into bed to sleep. She's also been getting a bit of a "sassy" attitude to go with it, so we're "working" on that one. :)  Actually, after a very rough couple weeks of serious attitude, she has been unbelievably pleasant the past couple days.  She is only two, after all, and just learning what is acceptable and what is not.

*And I have been busy trying just to keep up with stuff around the house. Somehow it seems like during the summer, any free time is spent out and about so things just pile up here. And the days nothing is going on, its just playing catch-up all day. Oh well, such is the life of a SAHM - which I love! (yes, even on the exhausting days!) I've also been the coupon crazy lady and have been saving our family tons of money and getting so much for free or cheap. I'm actually saving 60% off my groceries! Woo hoo! It really is a thrill, though, seeing that total go down at the register and even better feeling like I am getting the most I can for my money and helping provide for my family. If you want more info on how to save so much with coupons, feel free to ask, I love sharing any tips I can.  Or you can also click on the links on the right hand column - those are some of my favorite money-saving blog sites.

Hope your summer is going well! Thanks for stopping by to see what's going on in our little world.

Playing outside

Its been a little while... longer than I like at least. It seems like summer just makes everything a bit busier. And this warm weather makes my kids a little bit grumpier usually too, which affects everyone's schedule. Regardless, we definitely have our fun days and are enjoying the beautiful weather we've been having.
Here are a few pictures from the past week...

HMM...WHERE DID MY SUNGLASSES GO?!

Well, now that I've posted these, it explains a lot about why I haven't been on the blog much lately... we've just been busy enjoying life together as a family!
(And I'm exhausted from doing all of this too!  haha!)

Continuing saga of the zucchini...

Well, we actually have a few zucchini growing already. Charlotte was quite excited when she saw this beautiful big yellow flower on the plants the other day... until it wasn't big and open anymore.  She actually cried... I told her that it was going to be a zucchini and she replied, "That's terrible, Mommy!" Apparently, flowers trump food in her world.  Can you blame her?  There are a couple more big yellow flowers this morning.  Not sure I should bring it to her attention.  :)

Grocery trip

Ok, so I really don't plan on posting these all the time, especially since this will become the new "normal" for us, but I'm just so excited that I did an actual grocery shopping trip today with my new coupon system and saved a ton!

I got all of this:

SPENT $64.14    SAVED $73.84!
(oh, and there were 61 items, so that averages out to just over a dollar for each item!)

Zoo trip with Nana, Auntie Kim & Jordan

Man vs. machine

Kevin met his match while doing yardwork today. The weed whacker snuck up on him and got him in the leg.

Here's the damage:

Cousin time

Charlotte got to meet her cousin, Jordan, today for the first time.  They really do seem to be having fun playing together already.  Here is lunchtime today.

Thanks Nana and Auntie Kim for coming out to visit and bringing Jordan too.  Time with family is priceless!

Pizza night

Thought we'd do something fun for dinner last night and make our own pizzas.... It was a hit!

Gardening

Here is our "sad" little beginning attempts at some gardening.  Zucchini is growing, and yes, we got one of those "Topsy Turvey" type tomato planters (hanging by the shed).  Figured we'd start out small this year, see how it went, and maybe go for an actual garden area next year if all goes well.  We also have green beans coming soon.

We have a shed!

Well, the shed is up! I am so unbelievably proud of my husband! He is definitely not the handy-man type, so this was a huge project for him and his first real building project... unless you count our Target furniture. haha! He did it almost completely by himself in only about five hours. (My dad helped build the foundation and I helped with the few things that required more than two hands.) And he did an amazing job! So excited to have such a nice item in our backyard and more room in our garage. An 8x6 shed for all of our outdoor equipment - you know you're getting old when that is a dream come true!  :)
